Explosion Proof Motors

An explosive atmosphere, as defined by the ATEX directive, is a mixture of flammable substances in the form of gases, vapours, mists, or dust with air, which, if ignited, can cause a dangerous explosion. ELVEM's certified explosion-proof motors are meticulously designed to prevent such incidents by containing any internal ignition and preventing the motor's surface temperature from igniting the surrounding hazardous environment.

Gas Environments:

Zone 21: Areas where a combustible dust cloud is likely to occur in normal operation.
Zone 22: Locations where a combustible dust cloud is not likely to occur in normal operation, but if it does, it will persist for only a short time.

RL Series (Ex db / Ex db eb / Ex tb)

These "flameproof" (Ex db) motors are designed for Zone 1 gas and Zone 21 dust environments. The enclosure can withstand the pressure of an internal explosion and prevents the transmission of the explosion to the surrounding atmosphere.

MIA Series (Ex eb / Ex tb)

"Increased safety" (Ex eb) protection ensures that no sparks or arcs are produced and that surface temperatures remain within safe limits during normal operation, making it ideal for Zone 1 gas and Zone 21 dust areas.
